Spends is a personal finance tracker. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it uses Google user data, how data is shared, how data is protected, and how long data is retained.
What is stored
Your spends, income, savings transfers, accounts, categories, budgets, recurring payment reminders, planned spends, goals, explicit JOJI context, answer evidence, and profile details are stored in the app database. The browser never connects to the database directly. It only talks to this app server.
Signing in
Signing in with Google shares your name, email, and profile photo with the app so it can identify you and show them back to you. Access may be invite-only if the app owner configures an allowlist.
Google user data accessed
Spends accesses your Google account identity data for sign-in: your email address, display name, and profile photo. If you choose Google Sheet backup, Spends also requests Google Drive access to create and update one app-created backup spreadsheet in your Google Drive.
Google Sheet backup
If you click Google Sheet backup, Spends asks Google for permission to create and update a backup spreadsheet in your own Google Drive. The backup contains only your Spends entries: date, type, amount, category, note, and created timestamp. Spends does not read unrelated Drive files.
How Google user data is used
Google identity data is used to authenticate you, keep your app data scoped to your account, and show your profile information in the app. Google Drive access is used only to create or update the backup spreadsheet when you use the Google Sheet backup feature.
Data sharing and disclosure
Spends does not sell Google user data. Spends does not share Google Drive data with advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties. Google user data is disclosed only as needed to operate the app, comply with law, prevent abuse, or with your explicit direction.
The chat assistant
When you use JOJI, your question and a compact evidence packet made from your own records may be sent to the configured AI provider to phrase a reply. Totals and calculations are produced by the app, and the feature is read-only. Spends does not send Google Drive files, Google Sheets files, or Google Workspace API data to AI providers.
Personalization and chat memory
You can optionally enter priorities, financial setup, protected essentials, preferred advice style, and current concerns in JOJI setup. You can review and change these notes at any time. If you enable chat learning, JOJI may suggest a preference or priority from your message. It becomes a durable chat memory only when you confirm it. You can edit or remove confirmed memories in AI context & memory. Turning learning off stops chat-memory retrieval and suggestions; retained memories remain visible for your review and deletion. Deleting a conversation does not delete separately confirmed memories.
When configured, Pydantic AI orchestrates responses on the app's server and Mem0 stores confirmed memories under a pseudonymous account identifier. Phoenix records operational information such as latency, token counts and validation outcomes. Default Phoenix traces exclude message contents, transaction notes, memories and email addresses. These observations help improve reliability; spending patterns are not treated as psychological diagnoses.
Limited use statement
The use of raw or derived user data received from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Spends does not use Google Workspace API data to train, improve, or develop generalized AI or machine learning models.
Data protection
Spends uses HTTPS in transit, server-side authentication, per-user authorization checks, database access scoped by signed-in user email, rate limits on API routes, and private server environment variables for secrets. Google Drive access tokens for backup are used for the backup request and are not stored by Spends.
Retention and deletion
Spends keeps your app finance data and explicit JOJI context while your account is active or until you delete them or delete your account. Google Sheet backups remain in your Google Drive until you delete them there. You can revoke Spends' Google access at any time from your Google Account permissions.
Your control
You can delete your Spends account from a browser without installing the Android app.
You can edit or delete individual entries at any time, edit or delete JOJI context from its context controls, clear all data from Settings, delete your account entirely from Settings, disconnect Google access from your Google Account permissions, or sign out to remove the app session from your device. Account deletion permanently wipes your app-scoped data, context, answer evidence, and feedback with no support ticket needed.
